Therapeutic Massage Program

Florida Hospital Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine offers therapeutic massage in a clinical setting by our professionally trained and Licensed staff. Offered as part of our Wellness Program, treatments will be tailored to your individual needs. This valuable tool will relieve stress, promote and improve circulation, and facilitate muscle relaxation by relieving muscular tightness.

Florida Hospital offers 7 different types of massage. They include:

  1. Neuromuscular: Deep massage dealing with specific areas of the body
  2. Deep Tissue: Loosens tension between the layers of connective tissue
  3. Trigger Point: Aggressive massage that releases tension of trigger points on muscles
  4. Myofascial Release: Prolonged stretch of a specific muscle group
  5. Relaxation: Therapeutic massage that helps to relieve stress and anxiety
  6. Reflexology: Targets hands and feet to help release stress over different regions of the body
  7. "Mommy Massage": Florida Hospital now offers therapeutic massage for expectant mothers in a clinical setting by our professional trained and licensed staff. During a normal, healthy pregnancy (after the first trimester), massage can be very beneficial in promoting relaxation, soothing nerves, and relieving strained back and leg muscles. Massage not only relaxes the "Mommy" but also instills a feeling of well-being to the unborn child. During the "Mommy Massage" we will meet any special needs to ensure each individuals comfort.

    BENEFITS of Pregnancy Massage:
    • Reduces swelling in legs and feet
    • Decreases low back pain experienced during pregnancy
    • Promotes relaxation for the mother and unborn child
    • Instills a sense of renewed energy in the mother

What to Expect During a Massage at Florida Hospital
The first appointment typically begins with the massage therapist providing you with an intake form. You will answer questions regarding what prompted you to get a massage, your current physical condition, medical history, lifestyle, stress level and painful areas. You may also discuss your health goals and how massage will help to achieve those goals.

Next, you will be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort. Undressing takes place in private and a sheet or gown will be provided for draping. The therapist will undrape only the part of your body being massaged, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times.

Your massage will take place in a private and comfortable atmosphere and on a cushioned massage table. We are committed to providing a very beneficial and positive experience for you.
